Stripes Square
From Trix und Robert Haussmann
Material: Recycled Wool
Application areas: Residential
As if thrown into the air, a delicately flowing black and white striped silk chiffon scarf unfolds the idea from which Trix and Robert Haussmann drew their iconic pleated design STRIPE - a motif that has been a recurring theme throughout their multifaceted oeuvre since the early 1980s.
The extensive and multifaceted archive of Trix and Robert Haussmann - rich in previously unpublished sketches and designs - forms the basis of the COLLECTION TRIX & ROBERT HAUSSMANN by Ruckstuhl. The collection was developed at the beginning of this year in intensive collaboration with Trix Haussmann in order to bring out the depth and originality of the visionary duo's aesthetic principles and design intentions.
Ruckstuhl combines this piece of Swiss design history with future-oriented material innovation: the COLLECTION TRIX & ROBERT HAUSSMANN is the world's first carpet collection whose top layer is made of 60% recycled wool - obtained from clothing that is no longer worn (post-consumer material, for example high-class winter coats). STRIPES SQUARE PRIVÉ is the soft wool quality for private living areas, STRIPE SQUARE LOUNGE is the dense wool quality for public areas.

Trix und Robert Haussmann
Trix (*1933) and Robert Haussmann (*1931; †2021) are among the most influential figures in Swiss architecture and design. With their Manierismo Critico – critical questioning of the familiar – they broke with design and architectural conventions through playful seriousness and subtle humour, leaving a lasting mark. Their work plays with perception, surprises and challenges the senses.
We have transferred these works to the new COLLECTION TRIX & ROBERT HAUSSMANN by Ruckstuhl in close collaboration with Trix Haussmann. The designs were personally curated by her to authentically preserve the design principles and creative depth of this visionary duo and bring them to life in a new way.
