Swiss Embassy Georgia, Tiflis/Georgien

The existing, former SDC building was completely renovated and two storeys were added so that the embassy premises could be integrated. 

The architecturally attractive exterior walls were retained in their basic substance. The new storey was clearly separated from the existing two-storey brick building and thus clearly formulated as a contemporary intervention. An interplay of architectural elements characterised by contrasts brings the old building and the modern extension into harmonious harmony. Thus, the vertically drawing perforated sheet façade contrasts with the horizontally layered brickwork. Large, strongly ordered window areas in the extension form a calm pool to the diverse perforated windows of the existing building. Slightly reflective, rotating glass swords reflect the surroundings and locate the building, at the same time providing protection appropriate to the local climate.

The Embassy was completed at the end of June 2019.
